Loons are fine

Hi all,

At the moment, no news is good news as far as the loons are concerned.  Nine days to go.

  The first two photos are from Ashley W.  What beautiful color.

 

 

 

 Very recently hatched phoebes on her porch, this is about a week ago.

 

 How we spend our evenings on Lake Dunmore, this was last night.  The wind was quite brisk but welcome since it would have been a little too warm without it.

Tonight was an entirely different feeling.  We floated off the island for a little while and it would have been easy to nod right off.

Caught the switch, and big news

Hi all,

Louise S. and I were lucky enough the catch the loons changing position a little after noon today.  If you look hard enough, you can make out the second loon next to shore just to the right of the one on the nest.

It's great that they felt comfortable enough to do it with us sitting out there.  I guess they had some sort of conversation there before..
